Overcome and Run

I talk all things Obstacle Course Racing. My goal is to inspire those who have never ran an OCR to try one out and get addicted like me, or for those who are weekend warriors to make the move to a competitive level.

In this episode I talk to Miguel Medina and Yancy Culp about what sort of training you should be doing during the off season.

As you may already know, Yancy Culp is the coach behind Yancy Camp, and Miguel Medina is one of his elite athlete coaches. As a member of team Medina on Yancy Camp I knew they both would have amazing ideas. You will hear from both about how the off season is a good time to build that aerobic base, and slow down a bit on the High Intensity Interval Training that we are all used to doing in OCR. Also, Miguel shares with us that you should be spending some time getting yourself into other sports/ fitness hobbies that will help keep you from getting burned out of running and OCR, but will also keep you active and improving your overall fitness.

We also talk a bit about Worlds Toughest Mudder and how amazing of an event it was. The three of us got to spend some time together at the event, so it was a good time to catch up and share some of our experiences.

In this episode I am live from Worlds Toughest Mudder with Neil "Crazy" Craver (Who you may know from American Ninja Warrior), Junyong Pak, and Austin Azar.

I talk with Crazy Craver about going from the shortest possible course, to the longest course in OCR. It was excellent to see him out there, and of course it was easy to identify him with the gold shorts over his wet suit.

I talk with Junyong Pak about going from the overall leader, to dropping out of the race in the middle of the night. Pak is known for being an extremely accomplished and experienced endurance racer, so this was a surprise to see him drop so fast.

Last, and certainly not least I talk to Austin about what it felt like to run 100 miles. 7 people completed 100 miles this year, but he was the 4th to make it happen in this event. He took 2nd in the individual male category.

In this episode I talk to Beni Gifford. We cover a ton of things from winning the Spartan:Ultimate Team Challenge, to being a Yancy Camp Athlete.

Beni shares with us how he got into elite obstacle course racing. He clears up the misconception that BattleFrog is coming back with a TV show, and we discuss what really led that business to fail.

We talk in great detail about Spartan:Ultimate Team Challenge, and some of the behind the scenes details that you may not have thought about when watching the show. He also put out publicly for the first time that he will be on this upcoming season of Broken Skull, and is applying to be on American Ninja Warrior.

In this episode I talk to Sean Corvelle. We talk about some new obstacles, and obstacles no longer at Tough Mudder, such as the new Arctic Enema 3.0 and why it scared me so bad as well as Electro Shock Therapy and some experiences there. Sean talks about fear and how it applies in Tough Mudder and why it really is a good thing.

I finish up by asking Sean about his start line speech at all Tough Mudder events, and what he does different at Worlds Toughest Mudder. Lastly, Sean shares some last minute motivation for you Worlds Toughest Mudders out there.
